Privacy Policy
Effective July 5, 2026. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a subscription radio station, we don't sell it, and we prune what we don't need.
1. Who we are
Philosomatika.fm is a subscriber-funded internet radio station. For data protection purposes the station operator is the data controller. Contact for anything in this policy: support@philosomatika.fm.
2. What we collect, and why
- Account data: your email address and a hashed password (we cannot see the password itself). Used to sign you in, send receipts and service email, and tie your subscription to your access. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
- Billing metadata: your subscription status, subscription identifiers, and payment history metadata from Stripe or PayPal. We never receive or store your card number. Legal basis: contract and legal obligations (accounting).
- Listening logs: when you connect to a stream we log the IP address, country (looked up locally from the IP), app or browser user-agent, and connection time. Used for capacity, abuse prevention, and simple listener statistics. These logs are deleted after 30 days. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running and protecting the service.
- Your saved tracks and track history: favorites you heart in the player, and the station's own play history. Favorites are tied to your account so you can see them; play history is about the station, not about you.
- Support email: if you write to us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.
We do not run advertising trackers or analytics scripts on the site, and we do not build listening profiles of individual members.
3. Who processes data for us
- Stripe processes card, bank, and wallet payments (including its optional Link feature). Stripe's own privacy policy applies on its checkout pages.
- PayPal processes PayPal payments; its privacy policy applies in your PayPal account.
- Brevo relays our transactional email (receipts, password links, billing notices).
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces; your browser requests them from Google, which sees your IP address.
- Our servers are hosted at established cloud providers; stream and site infrastructure is operated by us.
If we ever distribute the free channel through third-party radio directories or relay platforms, listeners using those platforms are also subject to the platform's own privacy policy; the premium streams come only from us.
4. How long we keep things
- Listening logs (IP, user-agent, country): 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Account and billing data: for as long as you have an account, then for the period bookkeeping law requires.
- Favorites: until you remove them or delete your account.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and the CCPA), you can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you (access / "right to know"),
- correct it, export it in a portable format, or delete it,
- restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interest.
Email support@philosomatika.fm from your account address and we will handle it, normally within 30 days. We do not sell or share your personal information in the CCPA sense, so there is nothing to opt out of. EU residents can also complain to their local supervisory authority.
Deleting your account removes your email, favorites, and access; billing records we must keep for accounting stay until their retention period runs out.
6. Security
Passwords are stored as strong one-way hashes. All site and stream traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Payment credentials live with Stripe and PayPal, not with us. Access to member data is restricted to the station operator.
7. Children
The service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 (or the age of digital consent where you live).
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will email account holders before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top always tells you which version you are reading.
Free playback through Live365
The free player is provided by Live365. Loading it connects your browser to Live365, which processes playback and connection information under its own privacy policy. Premium streams continue to use Philosomatika account access.
